it’s Doctor recommended!

Doctors protect us, heal us and save us every day. And keep our skin healthy and glowing! This Doctor's Day, we salute all the professionals who put their patients before themselves. And as a special treat, we, at Dermalogica, spoke to a few dermatologists to share tips and tricks to keep your skin healthy and glowing. Read on, it’s doctor recommended!

identify your skin type

The first step to achieving healthy skin is identifying your skin type and using products that suit your skin type and texture -- dry, oily, sensitive, normal or combination. Once you identify your skin type, you can use products and ingredients that will suit it and work most effectively.

“The biggest skin care mistake you can make is using products and ingredients not suited to your skin type. Always understand your skin type and texture and then choose products that work for it. Also, if you have oily skin, don’t skip moisturiser!” says Aesthetic Physician, Dr Isha Juneja.

CTM religiously

Cleansing-toning-moisturising are the holy grail steps of any skin care routine, and for good reason.

“It may sound simple, but regular CTM and applying sunscreen throughout the year are two of key habits that will give you clear, healthy skin,” says Dr Kahkashan Sajjad, Rumy’s Skin Care Clinic & Academy.

Regular CTM can make a world of difference in your skin health in the long term. Having a routine is imperative, but revisiting the products you use every season or year is also advisable, as your skin keeps evolving as you age.

In fact, adopting a double cleansing routine with the Precleanse and the Special Cleansing Gel will yield even better, long-term results.

exfoliation: the open skin care secret

Getting rid of dead skin cells is one of the most effective ways to get better skin texture and hey! It’s doctor recommended!

“I highly recommend Daily Microfoliant to get rid of dead cells and comedones, especially during the pandemic when one can’t go to a salon for a clean up. Using this regularly has helped many of my clients,” says Dr Soumya Dogiparthi, Dermipure Dermaclinic.

Exfoliating regularly can help keep breakouts, acne, blackheads and whiteheads at bay. Every dermatologist we spoke to recommends the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant and uses it themselves, too. Need we say more?

healthy life, healthy skin

Drinking at least three litres of water, removing your makeup before sleeping, getting six to eight hours of shut eye are also simple ways to get healthy glowing skin, say our good doctors.

“The food you eat and the amount of water you drink has an impact on your skin. A healthy lifestyle, along with using products that suit your skin type, is the best skin care tip I can share,” adds Dr Kahkashan Sajjad.

And of course, don’t forget to use sunscreen all year round, even when you’re indoors. If you have oily skin or don’t like the heavy, sticky feeling of product on your skin, opt for the Oil Free Matte SPF30, which is a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects without leaving behind an oily residue.

put away your phone and get some rest!
The blue light from your screens is causing more harm than you know! Not only are your eyes getting tired, but spending long hours in front of a screen can cause early signs of ageing like fine lines, wrinkles and puffiness. Yet another reason to wear sunscreen indoors.
